WHO WE ARE

One Love midwifery and One Love Community Consortium is a woman of color led community care and advocacy model.

We are the answers we seek.

We are leaders in our own care.

“One Love” is our core value.

THE MISSION

At the One Love Community Consortium, our mission is to create a transformative impact by supporting birth equity, health equity, education, and community building across Long Island, NY.

We are dedicated to fostering a community of informed individuals who raise awareness about healthcare inequities and provide access to comprehensive, personalized care for all.

Through our collaborative efforts, we aim to build and support healthy birth outcomes for women of color, empowering them to experience childbirth with dignity, respect, and optimal well-being.

THE PROBLEM

  • Black (non-Hispanic) birthing individuals in Suffolk County are 5x more likely to experience maternal mortality and morbidity compared to white individuals.
  • New York BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) birthing individuals are 12x more likely to die in birth than white individuals.
  • Suffolk County’s infant mortality rate for Black infants is 5x higher than that of White infants.

OUR SOLUTION

  • Open a BIPOC owned and operated office, birthing service, lactation support, and freestanding birth center.
  • Provide exemplary, safe, quality, loving care, and supportive services to all birthing persons, regardless of their ability to pay.
  • Serve 50% Medicaid and 50% private insurance and self-pay clients.
